This year's competition would be housed once again at the ODU Theater on the first Saturday in June.  We were happy to return and the theater assured no complications.  This year was rather different because there was no longer a reigning representative so the opening production would consists of a former's coming out to represent their year.  IT WOULD BE A VERY CLEAN OPENING WITH MUSIC.

 

This was also a year that really touched my heart because as I mentioned Toya Washington aka Ebonee Sherry would reach out to me stating she wanted to assist the competition this year financially.  I HAD NEVER HAD ANYONE TO OFFER SOMETHING SUCH AS THIS. She would give me $1,000 towards the venue and $400 towards hotel accommodations.  I cried over the phone because I was just overwhelmed.  I thank her constantly to date so much to where it may overwhelm her at this point but I was just so GRATEFUL.

 

Now Kimora would make history with MMI as she would become the first to compete for both divisions and win. She would win MMI Newbie in 2010 and 5 years later she will become the National representative.  She was not going to consider at first and I felt in my heart she was ready so she decided to enter the competition. 

 

She would wear a white creative evening gown with a trumpet bottom and would do something very daring but it's ideal when you're competing for a pageant such as MMI.  SHE WOULD WEAR A BALD HEAD FOR EVENING GOWN.  She would further wear a Hi-Lo sequins dress with a split up one leg looking like Tyra Banks and would eat the runway up for RUNWAY.  SHE WOULD DO GRACE JONES LIKE YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN IT DONE BEFORE!   You would literally think you were watching Grace Jones.

 

SHE WAS SO CREATIVE THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF THE CATEGORIES. She thought out the box. She would become Miss Models Inc 2015 with Anjeni Moore as 1st. We would solicit a Filipino photographer out of New York as I was very impressed with her work with Jovan Hyman and Victoria Le Paige while they were ruling the Universe. She did an excellent job and I would use our very own of over 9 years, Travoris Adams for additional graphic design. 

 

Why the MMI Upset? Well as mentioned she had competed in 2010 and won the NEWBY division so to come five years later to conquer the NATIONAL division (THIS WOULD BE AN UPSET). I enjoyed working with her in 2010 and she had grown in her craft so much that I was looking forward to working with her in 2015.

Kimora would become one of my #TOP5 MMI reigns.  I don't say this likely and I really believe in it when I say it.   I was pleased with her diversity and her love for the craft.  SHE WAS A TRUE PEOPLE'S PERSON AND EVERYWHERE WE WENT PEOPLE FELL IN LOVE WITH HER. WOW LOOK AT HER WITH THAT BALD HEAD AND SHE'S SO PRETTY AND SHE WAS AND EVERYBODY CAN'T WEAR A BALD HEAD AND BE PRETTY.

 

We would go to many states and collectively. (26 bookings and 11 National appearances). I WAS PROUD EVERYWHERE WE WENT. This was my little lady.  She's such a fun spirited and free thinker and I'm certain this is the reason why we were able to manage to get along with one another so much.  She NEVER had an issue with listening and we were able to make whatever adjustments needed.  

 

Now it's no secret Kimora would decide to take a break and focus on her makeup career as she's a trained dancer and she's a magnificent makeup artist.  I WAS SO HAPPY SHE HAS MADE A DECISION TO BRING KIMORA BACK. I'm certain we all look forward to seeing her. 

 

Thank you for always bring a ray of sunshine. as you know over the years you as well as many of your sisters have left many things at my home and I cherish them and take care of them because I know at some point you all will come back to get them or you'll remember, oh I left them at MAMA VEE.  Thank you for your service to MMI.

 

PS: I'll be a little transparent here as the only issue we had was when she returned for her step down (HER GOWN WAS ONLY FABRIC AND SHE WAS GOING TO MAKE IT OVER THE WEEKEND). She pulled it together.
