In 2012,  the competition would be the second Saturday in June. I would solicit the ODU theater and would be given the date. I later would find an issue of which this was not explained to me by the theater manager of the University . ODU could take priority to a contracted date when needed during College session. Now you would receive a refund but during that season (Jan-June) it would be a risk you would take. I LEARNED TO NEVER DO THIS AGAIN. Now in hindsight those whom rented this theater before will completely understand and have had this encounter themselves.

 

The University had an emergency and they had to use the theater for the particular weekend that I was booked so I was refunded and had to find a new venue 3 weeks prior to the competition. (I THOUGHT TO CANCEL BUT IT WAS JUST IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE IT WAS TOO MUCH MANUFACTURED AT THAT POINT). I considered a location called the Masonic Temple but they only allowed events to be there within a certain time frame and I needed more time. I found a location which was a Bingo Hall in Norfolk Virginia at Military Crossing and it was large in capacity so I had to get a DJ, (Legendary "Burma Poole"RIP) and equipment along with ordering a stage to be built. I just always wanted the contestants to feel comfortable in whatever space we used.

 

Presentation would be in white this year and this would be Trinity's first time at MMI and are opening theme from our previous representative "Amber Starr" would be (QUEEN OF THE NIGHT). Trinity had spoke to me in the past about competing and decided this would be her year. Please also keep in mind Trinity was only 20 years old and would become the youngest at this point to win MMI. Now prior to her it would be Monica. This would also be her very first National title as she had only competed in the Newcomer ram. She would become Miss Models Inc 2011 with Jasmine Bonet as 1st Alt. I personally felt it was no need to call the pageant National because the respect and notoriety was there so we would be called Miss Models Inc at this point.

 

Why the MMI Transformer: This is another simple one because she transforms (HANDSOME MAN AND A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN). Her transformation cannot be denied or disputed. I saw the TRANSFORMATION in 2011 and look at her now.

 

The Take-home Crown: Black and clear stones with the logo with year of the representative along with the custom pendant to match.

 

The National Crown: Black and clear stones with logo silhouetted in center with MMI National embedded. This again would only be worn for a National appearances or warranted appearances.

 

Trinity was very prepared in a beautiful white presentation and she would do Janelle Monae with the instruments in all black and white of course with talent extras and they were each playing instruments. She would further wear a creative gown covered in glass and the spotlights would cast just glisten. SHE CAME PREPARED! I was disappointed because we had a very small amount of patrons whom came this particular year. God stepped in and allowed me to do the payouts and Trinity was gracious enough to give me a 30-days to compensate. I ALWAYS THINK AS PROMOTERS WE HAVE TO STAND BY WHAT IS TRUE AND OWN UP TO FACTS!

 

She would also remain in town until Monday because we would have a MMI Review/MMI Mini Ball on that Sunday. It was lots of fun. She would return to Atlanta on that Monday night to make her first appearance with the Stars of the Century. She would also land a role as a cast member later that year with the Stars of the Century.

 

I was anxious to work with her because I saw the potential and all the talent that was inside of this little body. THE MULTI-TALENTED INDIVIDUAL YOU ALL SEE TODAY WAS THE SAME PERSON I SAW ON THAT EVENING IN 2011. She was a trooper and she loved to entertain and did not mind traveling. This was a very fruitful reign. She would also have two photo shoots by her Dad, Kendoll Brinkley Brown and photographer whom was such a pleasure to work with and loved his natural and detailed approach with editing.

She would become my second #TOP5 reign of all times. I love her drive and determination to just entertain any type of audience you put in front of her. I was never surprised when she captured an opportunity to be on RuPaul's drag race. I FELT IT WAS DESTINY JUST HAPPENING. You don't find many entertainers like this young lady whom can do all genres of music and do them with EXCEPTIONAL ABILITIES (She gets in character). We took many pictures during her appearances within different places along with many friends.

 

Trinity would misplace her crown while moving and this was heartfelt to hear. She has gone on to win many titles through her career and much congratulations on all your success with your virtual show (DIVAS AND DIVOS) and your return to RuPaul's drag race ALL STARS. Also what a great idea for the MBU virtual contest. You were a remarkable representative for MMI and thank you for even producing your best when you did not feel well. I will never forget your DETERMINATION.
