This was the official year we were going to be considered a national brand so we took on many changes. One we were going to move to a larger venue so we put in a solicit for the ODU theater and unfortunately they were not available. We then made a decision to go to the Knights of Columbus and they were available here in Norfolk Virginia on Government avenue.

 

This particular venue had excellent parking as well a large open space for capacity.We just had to come in to make it pageant ready for MMI and we did. I remember the opening production by the reigning Queen, India Spalding was IMPOSSIBLE by Whitney Houston and Brandy (CINDERELLA SOUNDTRACK). We had superb rehearsals and the opening production was MAGNIFICENTLY received. We had a packed house and we were just astonished.

 

Debutante was not new to MMI because she had competed In 2000 when Farrah became MMI but she was determined. She had studied the system and mastered the categories. I will never forget for creative evening gown, she took her headpiece and detached it from her head and it became a purse. She wore fluorescent (VERY PUNK ROCK) colors for runway and was received with much applause. She further did a gospel for her talent and burned the building.

 

Again the competition was on Father's Day weekend but this particular year it was on a Saturday. She became the first Miss MODELS INC NATIONAL as again this was our very first year becoming a national brand.

 

The Crown: Magenta and clear scattered through the entire crown. The thought of a double crown was also in consideration and will elaborate more on this when we get 2005.

 

Why The MMI Talent?

 

If you know Debutant you wouldn't need to have this question answered but just to be clear. She possesses much DIVERSITY and can conquer any genre of music (GOSPEL, R&B, JAZZ, COUNTRY, RAP, OPERA) just to name a few and when you think about one of our CELEBRATED entertainers here in the Virginia area (SHE'S AT THE TOP OF THE LIST). Now in hindsight her being a former,I'm always shocked as to what she decides to do when she performs each year but she's ALWAYS an audience favorite.

 

Debbie was excellent to work with and much enjoyment. She also contributed to MMI with a prelim of which this will be mentioned more in 2005. Victoria Snow offered our very first prelim in Richmond Virginia this year (DREAMGIRL MMI). Debbie performed the official duties as being the national Queen at Godfreys Virginia in Richmond Virginia. Victoria had three contestants and officially made a decision she was going to send her winner and runner-ups to Nationals the next year. The prelim credits must be given to my son and now co-owner, Arthtavia Zentelle-Monroe Devon-Majarome as he was the driving force behind the preliminary stages of MMI.
 

Debutante to date remains to be one of our most entertaining female illusionists for the Virginia area. She has gone on to win many national/ local titles. She is a constant request for any lineup here in the Virginia area and when you're looking for the BEST on the stage (SHE WILL NEVER DISAPPOINT YOU). Thank you for your service to MMI and for representing us as the very first NATIONAL Queen.
 

Debutante to date has NEVER missed being present for her MMI former duties and keep in mind this has been 15 yrs returning. Thank you for your COMMITMENT.
