This particular years, Miss Models Inc National was held on a Saturday of which normally it was on a Sunday but we were still on the third weekend of June. The competition was held once again at the distinguished, Chrysler Museum Theater in Norfolk Virginia as we, Arthtavia Zentelle-Monroe Devon-Majarome were VERY pleased with the location and all the excellent amenities it offered. You really would have to experience the location to fully understand the GRANDEUR.

 

I personally also realized it was better to have the competition on a Saturday verses Sunday.  I will discuss next Monday as to the reason why.  The only issue I found with  the location was they did not allow you to bring in food or drinks of any sort and if you did to it  was madatory to use one of there personal catering considerations which was rather costly.

 

MMI had made a decision to offer complimentary dining prior to the beginning of the competition and had did so since 2003 and wanted to continue this momentum. The location management did agree to allow us to bring in snacks and drinks (ONLY). 

 

Now the crowd came in a bit slow.and it did make me a little nervous but they gradually came in. We began the competition a little over 30 minutes late. The opening production would be (BALLROOM LABELS). All the formers would be in tuxedo coats with no bottoms with fishnets and heels. This would be my first time being part of the opening production as I was always hostess (THE OPENING PRODUCTION WAS MAGNIFICENT). 

 

Yosmein had a small hiccup as she thought her presentation would not be received as fuchsia because it had a small cast of a different color although the fabric was fuchsia. Also during this time you could not have bugle beads or sequins on your creative evening gown (SHE HAD SEQUIN FLOWERS ADORNED THROUGH HER GOWN). Now with being the professional she was (SHE REMOVED THE FLOWERS FROM HER GOWN). 

 

She did a solo talent and wore a white two-piece pant suit for runway (SHE EXUDED A LADY). She became Miss Models Inc National 2016. She would also be the first to take the title out of state.

 

The Take Home Crown: Clear and emerald green stones.

 

The National Crown: Same Crown as pictured (but would be the last year used). This particular Crown was called (TRASH CAN, RHINESTONE PUNCH BOWL, RHINESTONE HAT along with many names I probably never heard). I always knew it was a AWFUL crown.

 

Why The MMI Beauty?

 

It's very simple. If you've seen her and you're looking at the pictures (IT IS CLEAR, SHE'S BEAUTIFUL).

 

I JUST LOVED WORKING WITH THIS YOUNG LADY.  I had an opportunity to build a beautiful friendship with her during this year.  I was always excited to see what she was going to wear next because she was such a "FASHION STAPLE" in our community and so sweet.  We had built a MAJOR platform of bookings and appearances.so she had an opportunity to work endlessly but I wanted to afford her the opportunity to prepare herself for her Continental in September but also wanted to enhance her financially with bookings prior.

 

Thank you YOS for your Charisma, Beauty, Friendship, Professionalism and Candid Conversations.  We spent much time with one another as she would be in Virginia and would stay at my home.  I SO LOVE OUR BOND.  I will never forget the night before her step down I was on my computer working diligently on printing material out as I'm a stickler for perfection.

 

SHE SAID GET YOUR ASS OFF THAT COMPUTER AND GET SOME SLEEP BEFORE YOU KILL YOURSELF.  I PRINTED ONE MORE SET OF PAPERS AND I GOT OFF OF THE COMPUTER. THANK YOU FOR MAKING ME  BECAUSE I WAS VERY TIRED.

 

Congratulations on all your many accomplishments prior to MMI and after. You became the RULER of the UNIVERSE not too long after MMI. I would also receive the Humanitarian Award from Mbu Contest in 2007 of which I cherish.
