MONICA EMON OVA KING
(The MMI Baby '02)

This particular year my co-owner (Michael Waddell aka Daejah Snow) had to make a decision to pull back from her duties as co-owner due to her mom being ill and because she had so much admiration for MMI  I moved forward with the competition solo but never mentioned she was not the co-owner. I knew another person had an interest in being part of MMI but did not want to make any decisions until further notice.

The competition once again happened at Club Nutty Buddy in Norfolk Virginia. This was held on the third Sunday of June of which Sally Patrick was the Manager and we had an excellent rapport with one another. MMI at this point had built a following and never wanted to take this for granted so offering what was considered the best was always a priority.

Now Monica is my granddaughter and this time I had no issue with allowing her to compete for the competition as I did with AVANTIS (her Mom) as you would have to come to MMI to win. Monica became Miss Models Inc in 2002.

Why The MMI Baby?

Well, Monica was only 20 years old when she competed so this would have made her the youngest and was her very first title. She was a BABY to MMI. Monica was also very timid and extremely shy during these times.

The MMI Crown: Clear stones and royal blue stones.

What I loved about Monica was her eagerness of going out of her way put her ensembles together and to be so young she really took her drag VERY seriously. Now in hindsight, one understands and appreciates in this day and time. I saw early on she was destined to be "A VIRGINIA FASHION RULER" which was a name I gave her 9 years ago and it has stuck to her like glue.

When she competes on any level and especially out of state, you know she's coming and you DON'T sleep on her because you UNDERSTAND the FASHIONS ARE COMING. She has a running joke with the MMI formers when it comes to the opening productions (THEY BETTER BRING IT).

She left us at the end of her reign with an award and started the trend of other formers extending appreciation. I still have it to this date. Now the picture embedded is from her original shoot which makes mention of the new co-owner Arthtavia Zentelle-Monroe Devon-Majarome.

Special thanks to Authur and Vega. It's an honor to be Miss Models Inc 2002/03. You truly have been an inspiration to me.

Your Queen,

Monica Emon Ova King.
